Vacancies
Post-doctoral fellows
I welcome applications from individuals with a PhD or equivalent training who are seriously pursuing a career in science.
I do not currently have any funded positions for postdocs. Interested candidates with external funding are welcome to contact me. Also contact me if you have the possibility to apply for your own postdoctoral funding through national and international agencies – if we find a research topic of common interest I will support you in the writing of the fellowship application to come to my lab to carry out the research.
Choice of project would to some degree depend on the applicant’s interests and abilities, though it is expected that the research will be purely computational and will fall into a number of sub-areas in computational biology.
The ideal applicant would have a PhD preferably in bioinformatics, computer science, biology or statistics. A strong background in machine learning would be an asset. He or she would be very skilled in programming and using the computer to solve problems (e.g. experience with C/C++, perl, SQL, java, matlab, fortran, GNU/linux, and so on).
Interested applicants should send a CV, description of research experience and interests, and contact information for references to Dr. Alberto Paccanaro.
Postgraduate studies (MSc and PhD)
Candidates should have a previous degree in a relevant field (e.g. Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering), excellent programming skills, and a keen interest in computational biology.
If you are interested, contact Dr. Alberto Paccanaro.
Final admission is granted through the Department of Computer Science at Royal Holloway University of London. For more information see: http://www.cs.rhul.ac.uk/Studying/pg/
Undergraduate students
I have occasionally the opportunity to accommodate enthusiastic and dedicated undergraduate students in our research team. We expect serious effort and long-term commitment, and in return provide the opportunity to become part of an active research project in the lab.
If you are interested, contact Dr. Alberto Paccanaro.
